Research Theme
1) Development of Biomimetic/Biocompatible Reactions
For applying applying certain materal or process to biological systems, the material and process should be biocompatible.
Under mild conditions, biological system can produce many organic/inorganic materials such as CaC03, Silica, Proteins.
Blomimtic : imitating the structure or process in biological systems.
Silica In Diatom
Diatom is encased within silica shell wall.
Diatom can produce silica structure under a mild condition.
Imitiating silica formation processin diatom.
Adhesive Protein In Mussel
Mussel can attach on the certain surface even in an aqueous condition.
Polydopamine-mimicking mussel protein can coat almost every substrate under a biocompatible condition.
Layer-by-layer
Alternate deposition of positively charged polymer & megatively cherged polymer can make thin films.
The method-coating the suface with polyelectrolytes in an aqueous solution under a mild condition.
